DIY photobooths versus professional photobooths: which should you choose?
In How to make your wedding truly memorable, we looked at the importance of creating special moments to live long in your guests’ memories. Photobooths are increasingly popular because they’re joyful and encourage spontaneity – a great combination for creating long-lasting memories. But should you do it yourself with a DIY photobooth? Or should you stick with a professional like Charlie?
We’re biased, obviously. It’s your event and it goes without saying you should absolutely do what suits you and your budget. But here are three things you may want to consider.
1. Do you have the time?
As the name suggests, DIY photobooths mean doing it yourself. Often they need to be assembled, props need to be bought and you need to keep an eye on it to make sure it’s working properly.
Choosing a professional photobooth is choosing a hassle-free event. You won’t need to worry about anything. Just turn up, have fun and let Charlie do the rest.
2. How good will the experience be?
Depending on what you go for, the quality of photos from a DIY photobooth may not be quite as good as you’d hoped for, and your guests may grow a little impatient while waiting for their photos to print. Also, there may not be appropriate lighting anywhere in the venue to allow for quality photos.
We use an integrated Canon EOS 4000D camera – an 18 megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera. Charlie’s well-lit with ceiling lights and a ring light to ensure high-quality photos every time, and photos are printed in seconds by our DNP DS620 Professional Photo Printer.
3. Get the most out of the experience.
Guests gravitate toward Charlie. He’s a talking point and otherwise reluctant guests will be lured in to have their photo taken. Inside, there’s a wide range of high-quality props, wigs and masks. You name it, we’ve probably got it. Charlie also stands out. No one will be in any doubt about where to get their photo taken. DIY photobooths are often small and tucked away in a corner, meaning they can be easily be missed.
